During April 2011, 4 new magazines of the TV series "Step by Step" will be aired on ANEM local and regional TV stations across Serbia. They have been prepared by the production company A-media, in cooperation with ANEM.

Every week in April, the TV audience throughout Serbia will be able to watch each one of these magazines, each containing three stories from three different places with a common general topic on positive changes in our communities that make citizens' lives better, as a result of the implementation of the European standards and values.

The eighteenth magazine of the TV series "Step by Step", the first magazine aired in April, brings the stories of traditional crafts and association for the purpose of employment.

The first story comes from Blace

Ljubisa Nedeljkovic from the village Tulare is not worried with selling his milk, as the local dairy plant "Lazar" buys off all the milk his cows make. The dairy has also associated with other cheese and dairy producers and subcontractors - farmers into a cheese cluster "Jug" (South).

The second story is from Pester

Sarih Nurkovic's family from the village Delimedja makes a living by selling lambkin, milk and cheese. But, since the nineties, the sheep run in this traditional farmers' region has grown desolate, so the local organization "Merhamet" has initiated a circle distribution of sheep to households to help them start their cooperative society. This way, Sarih's sheep stock has been enlarged for 30 new animals.

The third story is from Indjija

Every day, Valentina Bojanic meets her four colleagues at her home, where they make a new line of traditionally decorated hand-made items. These women have been involved, through a local association, in the work of Ethno-network, an organization aiming to preserve cultural heritage and reduce unemployment rate.

TOPICS of other 3 TV Magazines for April: The nineteenth magazine deals with protection of citizens' rights; the topic of the twentieth magazine is the convergence of local self-governments to citizens' needs and for the twenty first magazine is environmental protection.

Information on topics and short summary of the remaining three April magazines will also be made available in attachments of this text, to be posted in line with the airing dynamics.

A-media, in cooperation with ANEM, is intensively preparing "Step by Step" -the series of TV magazines  that deal with Serbia's "taking steps" toward the European Union. On that road, Serbia is moving faster in one moment, slower in the next. Either way, the changes are just around the corner, in our cities, towns and municipalities, and examples of such changes are the substance of these magazines. Each of 24 TV magazines, planned to be produced in the series, will contain 3 stories from three different places in the country, connected with one mutual topic. The production of the series envisages the recordings in app. 20 towns in all parts of Serbia. The topics to be dealt with in the series are selected from the areas recognized to be of the utmost interest to the citizens and in which they could easily recognize positive changes:

- employment and protection at work

- social protection and fighting poverty

- health care

- environmental protection

- consumer protection

- legal protection, protection of individuals and protection from discrimination

- reform and strengthening of local self-government and behavior of local officials

- regional development and cross-border cooperation

The series of TV magazines about the examples of positive changes in Serbia that directly make the citizens' lives better,  with a clear liaison between these changes and the application of the European standards, will help citizens to easily perceive what does «the European way of Serbia» specifically means for them - not an opportunity to leave the country and go to any of the EU states where living is generally better, but primarily the possibility to improve their lives in their home country.

The series of TV magazines will be broadcast during the period of six months, from December 2010 until May 2011, one magazine a week, on ANEM TV stations across Serbia.

More details on the first 4 magazines to be broadcast in December on ANEM TV stations, available here soon!

Most Serbian citizens usually they come across the issue of the European integration through information about the activities of the state, public institutions and officials, while they are less likely to see how their "ordinary" life is changing with the accession of Serbia to the European Union. Occasionally, they can see in the media the images from the EU member states; however, from the perspective of their harsh everyday life, these images often look like a goal too far. On the other hand, the many changes here, all around, that are the result of application of European standards and values, are almost imperceptible.

A-Media, in cooperation with ANEM, is preparing a series of TV programs "Step by Step" that will bring the stories from towns and villages - the examples of these small, but positive changes in Serbia that directly improve the lives of citizens and which represent the introduction of standards and values that apply in the European Union.

Citizens can easily recognize how, for example, an organized prevention in health care facilities can contribute to better health for all of us, how new employment programs can reduce the number of unemployed in Serbia, as well as how the care for the socially vulnerable or people with disabilities, the rights of women, children and minorities, can improve the whole society, and much more.

"Step by Step", the series of 24 TV magazines, with a total of 72 stories, will show examples of such positive changes, many of which are accomplished with the support and financial assistance of the European Union and its members, in the area of health care, environmental protection, employment and safety at work, social protection and fighting poverty, protection of citizens' rights and protection from discrimination, consumer protection, reform of local government and cross-border cooperation.

The airing of the TV series "Step by Step" begins in December 2010 on ANEM stations throughout Serbia.
