TENTH ANEM Monitoring Publication
Tenth ANEM Monitoring Publication offers to the interested public quality expert texts on important media-related issues.
The Contents of the 10th Monitoring Publication:
- Introduction (with summarized results of the legal monitoring of the Serbian media scene in the period January-September 2014 and a short overview of the Publication's contents);
four articles by expert authors:
- New Media Laws - Achievements and Future Challenges - by Slobodan Kremenjak, Attorney at Law (what the media and journalists' associations requested from the government at the time when the Media Strategy was being produced; to what extent these requests were transformed into provisions of the new media laws and the manner in which this was done; why an adequate implementation of the media laws is needed for favorable media environment, what are its preconditions and why it is a serious challenge);
- The Right to be Forgotten - Six Months of the Implementation of the ECJJudgment - by Miloš Stojković, "Živković&Samardžić" Law Office, Belgrade (a judgment of the European Court of Justice as a basis for the full exercise of the right to be forgotten on the Internet; what is the right to be forgotten; the attitude of Google toward the obligation stemming from the said judgment; shortcomings and consequences of the judgment);

- Dilemmas Related to Recording and Releasing Footage from CriminalTrials - by Siniša Važić, Judge of the Appellate Court in Belgrade (arguments pros and cons televising trials; media influence on the parties in court proceedings; media influence on the public in court proceedings; influence of the public on the court proceedings and justness thereof; why it would be good to allow filming and broadcasting of trials in criminal proceedings);
and the 5th article:
- European Court of Human Rights - Information Notes on the Court's Case-Law (excerpts from Information Notes available on the Court's website) - short overview of two judgments of this court pertaining to the application of Article 10 of the European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms: the first judgment pertains to the violation of freedom of expression by awarding of damages for defamation on account of publication of article criticizing Constitutional Court decision ordering dissolution of a political party; the second judgment pertains to the violation of freedom to impart and receive information commited by failure by authorities to comply with final court orders requiring them to disclose public information to journalist.
