First meetings on Media Strategy

Belgrade, April 26, 2011 (Danas) - The working group, in charge of drafting the Media Strategy, held first two meetings last week when they agreed on the structure of this document. It was also agreed who of the group members would be writing which part of the document. As for the content of the Strategy, there was no specific agreement. It was ascertained that the members of the working group would meet at least three times a week.

We would like to remind that the working group, consisting of seven members, was formed last week. This working group is in charge of preparing the Draft Media Strategy by June 1, after which the public discussion would ensue.

The following experts represent so-called "media coalition" (NUNS, UNS, ANEM, Local Press and NDNV) in the working group: Rade Veljanovski, professor at the Faculty of Political Sciences, lawyer Slobodan Kremenjak and Jelena Surculija from the Faculty of Political Sciences. Association of media has "delegated" Dragoljub Zarkovic, the Editor-in-chief of the weekly Vreme and Zoran Sekulic, Editor-in-chief of the Fonet News Agency. The members proposed by the Ministry of Culture are Igor Avzner, marketing expert and Danilo Nikolic, expert for European media law.

According to the Protocol that the Ministry of Culture has signed with the media association, one representative of the Ministry, civil society, Council of Europe and OSCE could attend the meetings as observers.
