Public debate on Media Strategy

Belgrade, June 11, 2011 (Dnevnik) - The first of five public debates on the Draft Media Strategy in Serbia will be held on Monday, June 13 in Kragujevac, announced the Ministry of Culture, Media and Information Society. As stated in the statement for the media, discussion on the Draft Media Strategy will be also held in Novi Pazar on June 20, in Novi Sad on June 23, in Nis on June 24 and in Belgrade on June 27, 2011.

In the beginning of July, after the completion of public debates, the Ministry will propose to the Serbian Government the adoption of the text approved by all interested parties.

The Draft Media Strategy for developing of system of public information in Serbia until the year 2016 foresees the withdrawal of the state from ownership in the media and is dealing with the role of media in society, ownership in the media, public service broadcasting, digitalization, media literacy and media pluralism.
