YOU CAN’T SEE SERBIA FROM BELGADE

NGO "Sumadija region" ("Sumadijska regija") on Media Strategy tailored for Belgrade and Vojvodina

Kragujevac, June 9, 2011. (Danas) - Leaving out the possibility of establishing regional public service broadcasters in the Draft Media Strategy, which will be adopted by the Government of Serbia soon, is a proof of application of double standard that have been applied in Serbia for years. On the one hand, Belgrade is enabled to have its own public service - Studio B, same is with Vojvodina that has RTV, while Kragujevac, Nis, Novi Pazar, Uzice and other cities/towns from so-called inner Serbia is denied, it was stated in the yesterday's public statement by Kragujevac NGO "Sumadija Region". It is also said that "Kragujevac Initiative" has been publicly present for some time and supported by many cities/towns and anticipated the possibility of forming regional public service broadcasters in other cities apart from Belgrade and Novi Sad. This possibility is now completely neglected.

"Unfortunately, this is yet another proof Belgrade is not fully aware of Serbia and its problems and that the rest of the country has to fight on its own to get what Belgrade and Vojvodia already have" - it was added in the statement.
