Media Ownership has to be transparent

Statement of the Managing Board of the Association of Media  

Belgrade, June 17, 2011 (Blic) - The Managing Board of the Association of Media concluded that the Draft Media Strategy until 2016 could be considerably improved by more precise formulations, especially in the parts related to transparency of ownership and protection of competition. The Managing Board is advocating for the full transparency of the ownership structure of media and consistent protection of competition.

"The proposed must not limit the development of media industry", said in the statement.

The Association will submit concrete suggestions to the Ministry of Culture, Media and Information Society. The Managing Board agrees with the parts of the Strategy related to: media ownership, role of the state, project funding from public budget aimed to all media, especially local ones, and stimulative measures for print media.
