Media Strategy of Vojvodina Hungarians

Hungarian National Council adopted a document that introduces the changes into the information in Hungarian language

Subotica, December 1, 2011. (Politika) - The content of recently adopted Media Strategy from 2011 to 2016 is, among other things, related to reporting in Hungarian language, reporting in the spirit of Hungarian interests, culture and traditions, providing 24-hour television and radio programs of the Hungarian media, raising the level of readership of the daily " Magyar szo" as well as reaching potential listeners, viewers or readers. The document was adopted by the Hungarian National Council.

The document of 48 pages analyzes the media landscape in Vojvodina, especially in relation to information intended to Vojvodina Hungarians. This Media Strategy emphasizes the need for strengthening of the media whose founder or cofounder is the Hungarian National Council.

The main novelty is the ambition to create a unique electronic media center of Vojvodina Hungarians whose holder would be Subotica based Television Pannon and Hungarian newsrooms of Radio Novi Sad. The aim is to broadcast 24-hour radio and television program in Hungarian language. This center would be coordinated by Administrative Office of the Hungarian National Council, which would provide additional fund from the budget for this purpose.
