Dinkić party enjoys most coverage in media

Belgrade, April 4, 2012 (B92) - The United Regions of Serbia (URS) had the largest share in the overall election coverage by national broadcasters during the first two weeks of the campaign.

The URS - a minor party led by former minister Mlađan Dinkić - is followed by the Serb Progressive Party (SNS) and the ruling Democratic Party (DS), according to the Republic Broadcasting Agency (RRA) report presented at a press conference on Wednesday.

Deputy Chairman of the RRA Council Goran Karadžić said that the broadcasters reported on the activities of the List URS-Mlađan Dinkić for 11 hours and 15 minutes (27.82 percent), Let's Get Serbia Moving- Tomislav Nikolić for 9 hours and 35 minutes (23.7 percent) and Choice for a Better Life -Boris Tadić for 9 hours and 17 minutes (22.95 percent).

The list continues with the LDP-led U-Turn movement 9.39 percent, the Serb Radical Party (SRS) with 5.43 percent, and the Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) 5.08 percent, the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) - Party of United Pensioners of Serbia (PUPS) - United Serbia (JS) with 4.51 percent. The lists of the Alliance of Vojvodina Hungarians, Dveri, All for One and the Movement of Workers and Farmers received less than one percent of the coverage.

This data relates to daily news programs, regular and specialized informative programs dedicated to elections, and party political broadcasts on national stations, Karadžić explained.

He added that the report was based on the monitoring of the national broadcasters from March 14 to 28.
