SEKULIC: MEDIA REFORM IN DEADEND
Belgrade, May 10, 2013 (RTS) - Government of Serbia should not forgo media reforms for the sake of important state affairs, such as finding solutions for Kosovo and obtaining the date for beginning of EU talks, it was concluded at the event marking the freedom of press.
"Adoption of the new Law on Information is uncertain and it seems possible that the whole process of its adoption will be prolonged to an indefinite period of time", said the Chairman of the Managing Board of the Association of Media and chief editor of FoNet news agency Zoran Sekulic, speaking at the event in the Media Center Belgrade.
Sekulic said this law was very important as it provided for the new model of financing of media as of January 1, 2014 and the state's call for proposals by September 15, for media projects.
Sekulic also reminded that Serbia should get new media laws under the Media Strategy. However, the exact time and number of media laws to be adopted remains unknown.
