MINORITY NEWS FOR BETTER COMMUNICATION
Subotica, May 31, 2013 (Danas) - National, namely mainstream media mostly deal with minority communities in Serbia only in incidental situations or when they are formally present their traditions and culture. Their everyday life, inclusion in the wider community and daily problems are not as often treated in the Serbian press and TV, it was noted by the representatives of US Embassy, the OSCE Mission to Serbia and Balkan Center for Migrations and Humanitarian Action in Belgrade.
The solution to such situation has been offered in the publishing of a specialized Minority News Bulletin (magazine), containing news from all ethnic communities in Serbia and presenting them to public, as well as reviews, comments and opinions...
"The magazine should not be just one more catalog of activities of national councils, nor a calendar of important dates for ethnic communities. The representatives of minorities will have the opportunity to present much more than just their cultural integrity and heritage. They will convey political views and ideas, exchange information and create a commmunication channel between national communities and all the rest of the population in Serbia. We will be happy to see the magazine help overcome the lack of knowledge people have about the minorities", editor of the magazine Sveta Matic said.
The magazine is expected to be released by the end of this month.
