Up to 70% of digitalization to be completed this year

Belgrade, September 17, 2013 (B92) - RATEL Director Milan Jankovic announced that 60 to 70 percent of digitalization of radio and television signals in Serbia would be completed by the end of this year.

"The complete digitalization will be completed by the middle of next year, about a year before the deadline, which is June 17, 2015", Jankovic said at the meeting of the Committee on Spatial Planning, Transport, Infrastructure and Telecommunications.

According to Jankovic, such a dynamics of digitalization is enabled by the fact that national television frequency formerly used by television "Avala" has not been assigned to anyone.

Chairman of the Board of the Republic Agency for Electronic Communications Jovan Radunovic said he expects that the spectrum released by digitalization would be given to mobile operators for the "fourth generation" of mobile network.
