B92 protected the name of TV Nova

Belgrade, November 26, 2013 (Danas) - TV B92 recently sent a note to Republic Broadcasting Agency (RBA) to revoke a license given to TV Nova.rs for broadcasting in SBB cable system. The legal team of B92 seeks from RBA to react and revoke the operating license of TV Nova.rs, since they already patented their name in the Intellectual Property office.

According to the sources of Danas, RBA refused B92's plea until the dispute is solved between the Intellectual Property office and relevant courts and because the names are not identical.

If the court decides differently, our source says, RBA will demand from TV Nova.rs to change its name. Nova.rs applied, together with TV Kopernikus for national frequency of former TV Avala after the public call published by RBA this year. At the tender, the permit was not given to any of interested broadcasters, so RBA has recently published a new call to broadcasters for national frequency permit.
