BROADCASTING AGENCY CHIEF SACKED

Belgrade, 29.07.2008. (Tanjug/B92) - The Broadcasting Agency, RRA, council chief Nenad Cekić has been relieved of his duties today, Tanjug says.

His deputy Aleksandar Vasić has also been removed from his position.

A member of the RRA, which regulates the media scene in Serbia, revealed that the duties of the council president and deputy will in the future be held by SPC dignitary Bishop Porfirije, and a former director of a Novi Sad television outlet, Goran Karadžić.

No official reason for the dismissal has been given in the Tanjug report, but the news agency reminds of a recent controversial decision when Cekić first announced a public invitation to suggest new RTS management board members, to then back down under pressure from the state broadcaster and the public.
