SEEMO CONCERNED ABOUT DAILY VRANJSKE

Vienna, January 25, 2010 (SEEMO) - South East Europe Media Organization (SEEMO) was worried about the political pressures which employees in the weekly Vranje were exposed to. SEEMO statement indicated that local government officials were prohibited to communicate with journalist of this weekly.

- During December 2009, market inspector and work inspection examined the business of this weekly on several occasions based on anonymous call. Also, on the first working day after New Year's holidays, a tax inspector also showed up in the newsroom weekly - said SEEMO in the statement.
