INTERNET EATS TELEVISIONS

Rovinj, 01.10.2010. (Večernje Novosti) - At least 2000 people from TV and radio stations, newspapers, marketing agencies as well as cable operators and music publishers gathered at the third Weekend Media Festival held last weekend in Rovinj. Experts from the region discussed 40 different topics with the greatest attention paid to the internet, digitalization and marketing on public services.

Leaders of commercial TVs and public services argued if marketing should be banned on public services. Johaness Zull from RTL and Drazen Mavric from Nova TV spoke in favour of it. Aleksandar Tijanic (RTS director) and Josip Popovac (HRT director) stranded against, asking the leaders of commercial TVs how they could compete with public services in informative program and ask the ban of advertising at the same time.

Andrew Keen, one of the festival's stars, said the internet is the kingdom of mediocrity and that it kills talent. Without authority controlling information placed on it, internet is an excellent tool for killing culture.
