Dnevnik 1 – till the elections

Novi Sad, February 9, 2011 (Vecernje Novosti) - Even if it plans to cease the broadcasting of the RTV Vojvodina Dnevnik 1 (the main news program) at 5 p.m, RTV Serbia will not do that at least until the next year elections.

This information was unofficially confirmed by RTS and officially by RTV. The necessity of ceasing the broadcast of Dnevnik 1 on the RTS First Program has been discussed for several years and what has most often been mentioned as a reason for that is "freeing up space" for marketing.  

Ruling parties' officials from the Province insist on broadcasting the RTV Dnevnik, because they are aware of the importance of this info program for their promotion, especially in the year before the elections.

- We prepare the Dnevnik at 5 p.m. in collaboration with our colleagues from RTS and it will be broadcast on the RTS First Program in the future - says Blazo Popovic, the RTV General Director, adding that this issue should not be politicized and problematized.
