VOJVODINA PARLIAMENT DEFINES AMENDMENTS

NOVI SAD, May 9, 2002 - The Vojvodina Parliament yesterday defined amendments to the Broadcasting Bill, which MPs described as extremely centralist. The Parliament also rejected the amendments drafted by the Vojvodina Executive Committee and the province's Information Secretariat. The parliament has thus backed the proposal for the establishment of a provincial radio broadcasting agency with a local council and called for all television taxes collected in Vojvodina to be channelled to the provincial broadcasting service. The amendments also call for provincial public services to be broadcast on two state media channels and the provincial radio program on three radio networks.
