BELGRADE DAILY DANAS WINS IPI AWARD

LJUBLJANA, May 13. 2002 -Belgrade independent daily "Danas" has won the "2002 Pioneer of media freedom" award at the International Press Institute (IPI) world congress in Ljubljana. Explaining why Danas was picked, Johan Fric said the paper had managed to present to its readers an unbiased view of events in Serbia in spite of the pressure exerted by the Serbian regime at the time.
