LICENCES FOR MEDIA BOSSES?

BELGRADE, May 23, 2002 - The editors-in-chief of media companies may be required to hold licences certifying them competent for the job, an assistant to the Yugoslav Information Minister said today. Zoran Kalicanin told Tanjug that the Information Act could define an independent body consisting of representatives from journalists associations and expert consultants which would be in charge of issuing licences. The scheme would cover both public and private media.
