JOURNALIST ASSOCIATION PROTESTS DISMISSAL

BELGRADE, June 3, 2002 – The Association of Serbian Journalists today protested over the dismissal of Borba editor-in-chief Dragana Cabarkapa noting that this was just another example of punishing journalists. The Association noted that it was not the first time Cabarkapa had been dismissed over the editorial policy and for recognising a range of opinions. The Association also noted that the federal daily was the only newspaper which had remained closed, even after democratic changes in 2002, to prominent journalists who had been dismissed under the previous regime.
