OFFICIALS OBLIGED TO PASS INFORMATION TO MEDIA

BELGRADE, June 6, 2002 - The fact that journalists from Nacional have been banned from attending press conferences held by the Serbian Government raises the question of whether free public information exists, said Miroljub Radojkovic, professor at the Faculty of Political Sciences of Belgrade University. Radojkovic, who is also a member of the committee drafting new information legislation, also asked whether this discriminatory approach to the information of public importance was characteristic of a democratic society.
