Authorities Don't Like Critical Journalism

BELGRADE, June 24, 2002 - "No authority seems ready to provide media with full freedom, and every authority, through its commissioners, tries to issue orders on how should the public be informed," Borivoj Pajovic, a legal representative for Belgrade daily Blic sai today. Pajovic claimed Blic had now become the victim of the current authorities because of its independent and unbiased reporting. According to Pajovic, Blic faces some fifty lawsuits brought by members of the former regime.
