Magyar Szo Editor Suspended

SUBOTICA, August 6, 2002 - Erzebet Marijanov, the editor of Hungarian language daily "Magyar Szo," was yesterday officially suspended and banned from entering the building, under the orders of director Rudolf Mihok. A statement accused Marijanov of abuse of position. The suspended editor claimed the Vojvodina assembly was the only body authorised to execute such a decision. "I was appointed acting editor by the Vojvodina parliament, and, as far as I know, it is the only one that can dismiss me," said Marijanov. She said she would inform the Vojvodina Parliament about this "scandal" in writing.
