Award for War Journalist

BELGRADE, October 29, 2002 – Belgrade journalist Dejan Anastasijevic has won this year's Dusan Boogavac Award for ethics and courage in journalism. The award, a cash prize of 61,500 dinars (about 1,000 euros) was presented in the offices of the Indpendent Assocition of Serbian Journalists by last year's recipient, Kikindske novine editor Zeljko Bodrozic. In its citation, the jury described Anastasijevic as having published many pieces from war crime sites when the risk was greatest. He was the first journalist to appear as a witness for the proseuction in the trtial of Slobodan Milosevic at the Hague Tribunal.
