State Television on Strike Today

BELGRADE, January 28, 2003 – The Nezavisnost union of state media employees is to begin industrial action today after the company management and the Serbian Government failed to meet demands. Union leader Vojin Zivanovic told media that Nezavisnost was demanding urgent implementation of the Broadcast Act, a thirty per cent increase in salaries, the payment of outstanding bonuses from last year and the abolition of house rules in Radio Television Serbia, together with the resumption of negotiations on individual contracts.
