Minister sues newspaper

BELGRADE, September 8, 2003 – Traffic and Telecommunications Minister Marija Raseta-Vukosavljevic said yesterday that she would seek protection of her interests in court over an article published in the daily Balkan which, she said had overstepped all limits of professional journalism. A Ministry statement said that Raseta-Vukosavljevic was in no way involved in the International Technology Company as claimed in Balkan’s article under the headline “Raseta owns a Serbian hotline”. “Nothing in the article has any connection with the truth. Once again an attempt has been made to resort to public lynching calls in order to discredit everything this ministry has achieve and to present, in every possible way, the Serbian Government’s success in purchasing Telekom shares as a shady deal,” said the statement.
