Matic on Porta

BELGRADE, September 18, 2003 – Veran Matic, director of RTV B92, today spoke to Glas javnosti about allegations by the former media representatives of the OSCE mission in Belgrade, Giovanni Porta, that his company was among a group of lobbyists and diplomats who had deliberately sabotaged all attempts to introduce order into the media sphere. “I’m sorry I didn’t see Giovanni Porta’s letter, but on the basis of everything published in the media it is completely obvious why he had to leave his job and leave Belgrade. “Porta supported illegal actions in connection with the Broadcast Act and everything which followed, especially the establishment of the Broadcast Council. “He took the side of those who violated legislation and who are responsible for the situation in the Council,” said Matic.
