Otpor challenges Broadcast Council

BELGRADE, October 9, 2003 - Otpor has launched a petition in protest at the controversial election of Serbia's first ever media monitoring body, the Broadcast Agency Council. Activist Ivan Marovic said the Otpor Movement aimed to overturn parliament's decision not to repeat the election of three of the nine members to the council, despite widespread condemnation of the procedure. The petition was launched in a number of Serbian cities, and will be submitted to parliament as soon as it reaches 15,000 signatures.
