Sit-in at Marka

BELGRADE, December 12, 2003 – Some 20 journalists at Belgrade daily Marka, which recently ceased publishing, have refused to leave their offices until they receive their salaries. A statement from the journalists asked the paper’s financiers whether they had pulled out when “they realised they wouldn’t be able to protect and promote their business and political needs and interests through the paper’s editors.”
