Vranje decision disputed

VRANJE, December 11, 2003 – NIP Vranjske director and Vranjske Novine editor in chief Vukasin Obradovic has complained he was never questioned during the lawsuit filed against his company, which the company lost. “This demonstrates the state of the Serbian and Vranje judiciary,” Obradovic told Beta news agency. Presiding judge Ljiljana Stamenkovic said the defendant had failed to attend two separate hearings in the case. Just a month earlier Vukasin Obradovic was presented with the “Dusan Bogavac” award for courage in journalism by the Independent Association of Serbian Journalists.
