Acrimony at Nacional

BELGRADE, December 11, 2003 – Milovan Brkic has resigned as editor in chief of Belgrade daily Nacional. Brkic claimed the management at the paper had demanded journalists declare their nationality, religion and Saint’s Day. Employees were sacked if they celebrated an “incorrect” Saint’s Day, said Brkic. The journalist said he would turn to the US Embassy in Belgrade for help. The Nacional management has dismissed the allegations.
