Vranje weekly fined

VRANJE, December 10, 2003 – The municipal court in Vranje has ordered publishing house NIP Vranjske to pay Dragan Stojanovic damages amounting to 400,000 dinars. Stojanovic sued local weekly Novine Vranjske after it published his photo alongside an article headlined “Fishing in troubled waters.” NIP Vranjske director and Novine Vranje editor-in-chief Vukasin Obradovic branded the decision “outrageous”. This is the second time in ten days that the paper has been fined.
