Promoting tolerance

BELGRADE, January 26, 2004 – The Serbian Broadcast Agency has commended the Serbian media on its coverage of the last two weeks leading up to parliamentary elections on December 28. There were no serious violations of the Council recommendations, broadcasters corrected mistakes and political parties were granted equal representation of the state television station, the Council told a press conference yesterday. Radio-Television Serbia had 97.5 percent coverage of election-related news, TV Pink 84.8 percent, BK 70 percent. B92 came last among nationwide broadcasters. Council member Vladimir Cvetkovic said the findings could be taken into consideration when it comes to allocating broadcast frequencies.
