Kontakt ruffles Uzice judiciary

UZICE, February 7, 2004 – Uzice TV 5 editor in chief Predrag Kovacevic decided to pull a programme looking at “The situation in the Uzice judiciary,” due for broadcast on Sunday, after he said that the president of the district court, Ljubisa T. Radulovic, had “reminded” him in a letter of the provisions of the Information Act. According to Belgrade daily Danas, the station broadcast the live “Kontakt” show in eight days ago, in which the head of the New Serbia municipal board, Zdravko Perendija, and League for Uzice and former Cajetina judge Petar Tanasijevic made accusations against Radulovic and district prosecutor Milenko Mandic. Just five minutes after the end of the show, acting on order issued by the municipal prosecutor, a police officer seized a videotape of the programme, which was eventually returned several days later. Acting municipal prosecutor Sasa Nesovic insisted it was his duty under the law to seize the tape.
