TV Jesenjin owner detained over cigarette smuggling

NOVI SAD, March 5, 2004 – Police in Novi Sad have arrested Zoran Ciric (41), owner of the Novi Sad television station Jesenjin. Ciric and three other individuals were arrested two days ago in a joint operation of the local police and members of the Novi Sad branch of the Security-Information Agency. A source at the TV station confirmed for Balkan that Ciric was among those arrested. They are reported to have been detained while loading large quantities of cigarettes from one truck to another, intended for sale.
