20.000 SIGNATURES AGAINST SUBSCRIPTION CHARGE

NIS, February 6, 2006 – Over 20 thousand signatures against the collection of TV subscription were gathered around Serbia – the most in Nis and Belgrade. The citizens were signing the petition against the TV subscription charge, demanding at that point the discussion on this initiative in the Serbian Parliament. The petition signing was initiated by the Nis-based Reformist Party. At least 15 thousand signatures were needed for this civil initiative to enter the parliamentary procedure. The Reformists say 20 thousand signatures were easily and quickly collected. “The petition will soon be forwarded to the speaker of the Serbian Parliament, together with the announcement of the protest to be organized in front of the Parliament in Belgrade”, said Reformist Party president Aleksandar Visnjic.
