CHURCH RETURNS TV TRSTENIK

TRSTENIK, March 20, 2006 – President of the Trstenik Municipal Council Raka Radovic said the Zica Eparchy of the Serbian Orthodox Church would return the equipment and frequency of TV Trstenik to the municipality. Trstenik Municipality was dispossessed of the local TV between two rounds of local elections in 2004, when the councilors of the Municipal Council donated the public station to the Zica Eparchy without any privatisation process. The Trstenik municipality expects to retrieve the equipment and frequency by the end of March, when the deadline for appeals expires. Under the court ruling, the Serbian Orthodox Church will be obliged to pay 46.500 dinars (close to 540 euros) of court costs.
