"HUMAN RIGHTS AWARD" FOR DOCUMENTARY

SARAJEVO, August 27, 2006 (B92) - The documentary Vukovar – Final Cut is the laureate of the Human Rights Award at the 12th Sarajevo Film Festival. The Human Rights Award is presented to the best documentary film in the Regional Documentary Programme of the festival that deals with human rights issues. Director Janko Baljak said ahead of the festival that the screening of this film in Sarajevo was very important for the two towns. Vukovar and Sarajevo were a symbol of the casualties and destruction that were caused by the wars in the former Yugoslavia during the last 1990s. Vukovar – Final Cut gives an account of the siege of Vukovar in 1991. The film had its successful premiere at the Film Festival in Zagreb, followed by screenings at Belgrade’s FEST and the prestigious Munich Film Festival.
