BROADCASTING LAW TO BE DISCUSSED AT FIRST MEETING

BELGRADE, September 4, 2006 (Beta) - Predrag Marković said that the Parliament will discuss the Broadcasting Law at its next meeting. The Parliamentary Speaker said that he is obligated to sign the proposal into law if it is discussed and agreed upon again. Marković said that the law will definitely be discussed at the first scheduled meeting of the Serbian parliament, but that the constitution does not obligate the Government to schedule anything on the daily agenda in that way. He said that even if the amendments to the law are not passed again, the same people who proposed the changes can propose new ones and, in that way, have them enter parliamentary procedures once again. “I did not vote for that law, but I did sign it five minutes after the voting, because that is the obligation of the parliamentary speaker.” Marković said.
