OSCE: MORE SAFETY FOR JOURNALISTS IN SERBIA
VIENNA, 3 May 2007 (B92, AP) - Recent cases of intimidation of journalists in Serbia could jeopardize freedom of expression, OSCE said Thursday.
The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe's statement, issued to mark World Press Freedom Day, cited last month's grenade attack on the house of journalist and government critic, Dejan Anastasijević. No one was injured in the attack.
The OSCE also mentioned the unresolved murders in Serbia of three journalists as the cases that could "lead to self-censorship by journalists who fear the state is not able to protect them."
"It is crucial to guarantee the safety for all the media professionals," the statement added.
