COMMENTS AND SUGGESTIONS ON THE DRAFT LAW ON PUBLIC INFORMATION AND MEDIA

Public discussion on the Draft Law on Public Information and Media was held between February 27 and March 22, 2013. Representatives of the Media Coalition (ANEM, NUNS, UNS, NDNV and Local Press) participated in four round tables of the discussion - in Novi Sad, Novi Pazar, Nis and Belgrade - which were organized by the Ministry of Culture and Media the OSCE Mission to Serbia, with the assistance of the British Embassy in Belgrade. As its contribution to the public discussion, on March 22, 2013, the Media Coalition submitted to the Ministry its written comments and suggestions on the Draft Law, which ANEM legal team shaped for the needs of the Media Coalition.

Written comments and suggestions of the Media Coalition represent an elaboration of stands and principles advocated by the Coalition during the work on the Draft Law, as well as at four round tables of the public discussion. In addition to general remarks concerning the key shortcomings of the Draft Law, this document contains specific comments and suggestions for improving provisions of the legislation.
