Google TV service to be available in Europe in 2012

Edinburgh, August 27, 2011 (goplugged.com) - Google Executive Chairman, Eric Schmidt said on Friday that it is going to launch its TV service in Europe in the year 2012. It allows its viewers to mix web and television content on a TV screen via a browser which was launched in United States in October. But in turn it had received some mixed reviews that the three top broadcasting networks in U.S. has been blocked.

Many people in the TV industry had started telling that Google with suspicion and accuse it for stealing their advertisements with out contributing anything to them in their profits. Schmidt, calmly listening to the news regarding the Britain's broadcasting elite in a speech which has been delivered in the Edinburgh television festival.

"Some in the US feared, we aimed to compete with the broadcasters or content creators. Actually our intent is the opposite", he told an audience who quickly warmed to his friendly style and liberal approach to the quality if British television.

" We seek to support the content industry by providing an open platform for the next generation of TV to evolve, the same way Android is an open platform for the next generation of mobile", Schmidt said.

"We expect that Google TV will be launched in the forthcoming year and of course UK will be top among the priorities that we had", Google Ex. Chairman Schmidt said.
