52 JOURNALIST KILLED IN 2013

New York, December 18, 2013 ( Beta ) - 52 journalists were killed In 2013, which is a third less than the previous year, although another 30 are missing in war-torn Syria, while 211 journalists are in prisons around the world, according to the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ ),  based in  New York.

As reported by Radio Free Europe, 21 journalists have been killed in Syria, six in Egypt, five in Pakistan , four in Somalia , three in Brazil and Iraq , while in Mali and Russia two respectively.

One journalist was killed in Turkey, Bangladesh, Colombia, the Philippines, India and Libya, and about 30 other journalists are missing in Syria.
