ATTACKS ON JOURNALISTS A WAR CRIME?

New York, December 14, 2013 (B92 , Tanjug ) - The international group Reporters Without Borders suggested today that the International Criminal Court considers a war crime attacks against journalists.

The UN Security Council held informal discussions on the protection of journalists after the alarming fact that more than 50 journalists have been killed this year, for which 90 percent remained unpunished.

France, presiding over the Security Council this month, particularly expressed concern over the killing of two RFI journalists last month in northern Mali.

Director of Reporters Without Borders warned that the fact that the attackers go unpunished "encourages" new attacks, AP news agency reports.
