GREECE: DRAFT LAW ON NEW TV SUBMITTED
Athens, July 5, 2013 (Beta, B92) - A draft law on the new State Broadcasting Service was submitted to the Greek Parliament today, three weeks after the closing of the public service broadcaster ERT.
The draft law was published tonight on the website of the Greek Parliament.
It is anticipated that the new service Nerito be owned by the state and its administrative council will among others include Greek ministers of finance and culture.
" The initial capital Nerito will be five million euro," according to the draft law
The public service broadcaster ERT closed on 11 June, without prior warning, which interrupted the broadcasting five television and seven radio stations, leaving 2,700 people jobless.
Decision by conservative Prime Minister Antonis Samaras to close ERT was met with international condemnation, and the government was then reconstructed.
