ANEM ASSEMBLY TAKES PLACE IN BELGRADE
Belgrade, June 15, 2010 - The Association of Independent Electronic Media (ANEM) held a regular Assembly on June 10, 2010 in Belgrade. The Assembly adopted reports on the activities of the Association in the previous period, as well as the Annex to the Articles of Incorporation and Statute of the Association - the ANEM Code. At the same time, the Assembly elected the new Managing Board of the Association.
The Assembly also noted that 17 years after the founding of the Association, its goals as defined at its inception were still topical, and that after establishing its position in the society and at the media scene in Serbia, ANEM had created a basis for its further activities aimed at creation of an appropriate legal framework for work of electronic media in the country, development and advancement of media policy and laws, and improvement of professional and technical standards in the media industry for the purpose of promoting free, independent and professional work of electronic media in the interest of the public.
The adopted Annex to the Articles of Incorporation and Statute of the Association - the ANEM Code - will allow more efficient work of the Managing Board of the Association between the sessions of the Assembly. In a unanimous vote, the Assembly elected the following members of the Managing Board: Sasa Mirkovic (RTV B92), Milorad Tadic (Radio Boom 93 from Pozarevac), Boban Tomic (RTV Prima from Bajina Basta), Dragan Kocic (City Radio from Nis) and Slobodan Krajnovic (Radio 021 from Novi Sad). Sasa Mirkovic was elected president of the Association, with Dragan Kocic as his deputy.
At the same time, the Assembly adopted decisions on termination of membership of a number of stations that have lost their broadcasting licenses after public contests organized by the Republic Broadcasting Agency. Several associate members were accepted in full membership.
At the same session of the ANEM Assembly, the ANEM Lighthouse Award was presented to a station and an individual. In the individual category, the award for contribution to improvement of the media sector and the role of the media in development of the civil society, as well as for adhering to standards and principles pursued by the Association, was presented to BRANKICA STANKOVIC, B92 journalist. In the category of stations, the award for improvement of the mission and vision of the Association, development of fundamental principles of ANEM and results achieved in accordance with the standards and principles pursued by the Association, was presented to Radio "EMA" from Bujanovac.
