MEDIA COALITION MET WITH CULTURE AND MEDIA MINISTER

Belgrade, October 26, 2012 - At the initiative of the Association of Independent Electronic Media (ANEM) and its partners from the Media Coalition, representatives of the Coalition held a meeting today with the Culture and Media Minister.

The meeting was attended by the presidents of ANEM, NUNS, UNS and Local Press, Minister of Culture and Media Bratislav Petkovic and his associates - Gordana Predic, State Secretary for media, Dragan Kolarevic, Assistant to the Minister and Aleksandar Avramovic, advisor to the Minister.

The meeting was organized with the aim to exchange views and opinions on the current media situation, problems and future development of the media sector. Representatives of the Media Coalition particularly emphasized that the Coalition should have been involved in the development of media laws and revision of the Media Strategy from the very beginning.

The Media Coalition called this meeting due to the alarming situation in the media sector. The Coalition expects this meeting would contribute to establishing a dialogue and cooperation between the media sector and the competent ministry, both in solving the problems of the media sector and further development of the media.
