BOMB BENEATH B92 REPORTING CAR

The Association of Independent Electronic Media (ANEM) condemns in the strongest terms the placing of a bomb beneath the reporting car of Radio-Television B92, a member of ANEM.

On Saturday March 27, a B92 team returning from Kosovo found a bomb underneath its reporting car in a car-park in Raska. The bomb was removed and tragedy averted.

ANEM expresses relief that the incident passed without serious consequences, but concludes that a bomb placed underneath a B92 TV reporting car represents an attack not only on B92, but on professional and responsible journalism in Serbia as a whole. The fact the car was parked just 20 metres from the local police station testifies to the gravity of the message someone wished to send.

ANEM offers full support to its colleagues at B92 in their professional work, and from the authorised bodies demands a swift and efficient investigation and for those responsible to be brought to justice. ANEM stresses that providing secure working conditions for journalists is one of the basic conditions for the continued democratisation of society.
