JOURNALISTS ASSOCIATION OF VOJVODINA OFFICIAL STATEMENT – CONCERNS AND SEVERE REPROOF OF THE ATTACK AGAINST A TV APOLO CAMERAMAN

Novi Sad, July 24,  2008 – Journalists' Association of Vojvodina (Društvo novinara Vojvodine, DNV)  has issued a statement to severely condemn a physical attack against a cameraman with the Novi Sad based Apolo Television. The cameraman was attacked in the downtown Novi Sad while he was filming footage of protests to support Radovan Karadzic for his TV on July 22.

DNV thus express their considerable concern since this is the second attack on a media professional in a month in Novi Sad, which has this time happened in the very centre of the city (!). DNV demands that the perpetrator be found immediately and brought to justice.

DNV is asking, again, that every assault on a media professional, while they are doing their job in a professional way, be qualified as an assault against an official person.
