REPUBLICAN BROADCASTING AGENCY ANNOUNCEMENT: THE LAST BROADCASTING LICENSES GRANTED

Belgrade, December 29, 2008 (RBA) – Council of the Republican Broadcasting Agency (RBA), on today session, issued 63 radio and TV broadcasting licenses for local, regional and Belgrade area.

Members of the RBA Council reached a decision and awarded 11 regional licenses for broadcasting, 4 for TV program and 7 for radio program, along with 52 local licenses, 25 for broadcasting TV program and 27 for radio program.

Reaching these conclusions, the frequency allocation process for TV and radio broadcasting came to its conclusion, with all-together 467 valid licenses issued.   

Members of the Council also decided to open branch offices in several cities in Serbia during 2009 and advance the effectiveness in monitoring the performance of the local and regional broadcasters.

RBA Council has stopped the procedure of license withdrawal for 3 RTV stations which completed their financial obligations before the deadline, while the procedure for 4 more broadcasters is going on and they will lose their licenses if  don’t fulfill the financial obligations until January 22, 2009.
